Visitors

If you have not attended church for a while, if you just moved to a new town and are looking for a church or if you just think its time to include God in your life it can be hard to make yourself go to an unknown church.
This page is to help you get to know Erven Avenue and learn what to expect when you visit our church. This page is, if you would, an Erven Avenue Handbook.

Erven Avenue is a small church located at 1 Erven Avenue in Streator Il. That means that we are located behind Kroger on your way to the Moose Lodge.

If you have questions please contact us through the contact form below.

Tight Shirts and Mini-skirts?

One question that is important to new visitors is usually "What should I wear?" Although we don't suggest wearing tight shirts or a mini-skirt you should wear what you feel comfortable wearing to God's house. Our Pastor, Curtis Starner, wears a suit and tie every Sunday but his eldest son wears jeans and a polo or button up shirt. The ladies usually wear slacks and a nice blouse, or sweater in the winter, or instead of slacks maybe a nice skirt.

Sunday School

Our Sunday School goes from 9:30 to 10:30 with different classes for different age groups to attend. We have young and mature adult classes for both Men and Women. A new College age class has just started, along with a junior high and high school class. We also provide classes for younger age groups as well.

Worship Services

On average there are between 60 - 90 people attending our Sunday morning Services. The worship time is one including hymns, and contemporary songs. We incorporate the lyrics to the songs on our projector and screen, along with video and responsive readings. The sermons are deep expository sermons that will stir an attentive heart to action.

Our Pastor

Our Pastor's name is Curtis Starner, when you first meet him he may seem intimidating, especially for such a little guy, but he truly is a man who cares. He honestly wants to know you and help you grow closer to God. If you will work with him then that will happen.
